Simcocks Red 36-4 Route 1 Atoms

The girls started very bravely on a very cold Sunday morning playing outside as the hall was not opened on time. All players from both sides were freezing, but took it in their strides and got on with it. Simcocks Reds took an early lead with Poppy Irving shooting really well. Evie Perry for the Route 1 girls tried hard to keep the goal difference down and linked really well with her GD Ruby Thompson. The solid defence of the Simcocks girls Hannah Skehan and Roviana Stezu meant that the Route 1 girls were only able to convert 1 goal in the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Route 1 girls convert another couple of goals and the determination of Katie Doran and Maddie Kneen was great to see being able to get through the Simcocks defence. The game was finally moved in doors and all the girls could take some layers off.

Simcocks found their form in the third quarter and with great link play between Anna Watterson, Claire Mason and Freya DeBaker they were able to feed their shooters who didn't seem to miss a shot on goal. Niamh Coole worked really hard at GA and provided vital feeds into her shooter Poppy Irving. Hannah Spencer for the route 1 girls worked tirelessly in the mid court switching positions and showing she is willing to play anywhere and is more than capable of providing solid passes and links down mid court. Ella Page worked really hard in mid court and will certainly be one to watch for the future.

Although Simcocks won the game 36-4 the Route 1 girls should be very proud of their performance, they didn't give up, stuck together and gave a solid performance.
