Castletown Stars 21-6 Route 1 Amps
This week saw the first Under 14 games of the 2019/2020 season. Castletown Stars played against Route 1 B in what turned out to be an energetic, friendly and competitive game. Castletown came out strong, taking the first centre pass and successfully achieving their first goal. Castletown’s GS and GA worked well together utilising their WA and C on the circle edge in order to gain advantage. Route 1’s GD and GK worked hard together to make some brilliant interceptions during the first quarter. This was quickly turned round by the centre court players on Castletown’s team. Route 1 worked hard to get the ball to their shooters. They used their mid court players well and made sure to use the whole court to their advantage. The first half of the game finished 9 – 2 to Castletown Stars.
After a mix up of positions on both teams it took Castletown Stars a little while to settle in to the 3rd quarter. After good communication the game began to flow again and both teams made some strong attempts at scoring. Route 1’s GS and GA worked well in the circle, taking shots and successfully gaining any rebounds. Both teams came out determined and settled for the last ten minutes of the game and Route 1 scored the majority of their goals in this quarter. All players worked hard together and thanks to their communication, technique and conviction played a very skilful final quarter. The game ended 21 – 6 to Castletown Stars with players of the match being awarded to Ruby Watterson (Castletown) and Aalin Mayers (Route 1).
